He was born in 1889 (London) and he passed away in 1977 (Swiss). Sir Charles Spencer Chaplin better known as Charlie Chaplin, was an Academy Award-winning English comic actor. Chaplin became one of the most famous actors as well as a big filmmaker, composer and musician in Hollywood. He is considered as a clown with a lot of mimes. He greatly influenced other performers.

Chaplin directed, scripted, produced, and scored his own films as one of the most creative and influential personalities of the silent-film era. After his first 11 movies, Chaplin began to manifest a desire to direct. By his thirteenth film, he also appeared as actor. He realized 35 films at Hollywood studio and the film Keystone has him establishes as a big comic of film. He next moved on to Essanay Studios in Chicago where he had the complete freedom of creation. That is why known The Little Tramp a frank success.

Chaplin's principal character was "The Tramp" (known as "Charlot" in France, and the French-speaking world, Italy, Spain, Andorra, Portugal, Greece, Romania, and Turkey, "Carlitos" in Brazil and Argentina, and "Vagabund" in Germany). The character wears a tight coat, oversized trousers and shoes, and a derby; carries a bamboo cane; and has a moustache.

Chaplin was the most important filmmaker of the silent film era. Through his clear understanding of film and its capabilities, and his constant experimentation, he set up rules for the comedy of screens and they are respected always now.
